24 SEPTEMBER 2026
The Changing World of Moroccan Hammams (2026) won a Gold Dolphin for Investigative Documentaries and Reports and a Silver Dolphin for Lifestyle, Food and Living at the 2026 Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards. Professor Magda Sibley, Editor of JBEGS, accepted both trophies in Cannes on behalf of the film team.
Directed by Petri Luukkainen for Bray's Run Productions, the 38-minute documentary follows Professor Sibley and architect Rachid Haloui back to Fez. They revisit the 20 traditional hammams she first documented in 1999 and ask whether each still serves its neighbourhood, has become a luxury spa or has fallen into ruin.
The film screens next in the International Competition at FINIFA in Agadir on 4 October and in competition at the Festival International du Film PanAfricain de Cannes on 21 October. It premieres on Sauna Channel TV on 29 October 2026.
The JBEGS editorial team congratulates Magda, Rachid Haloui and everyone behind the film.
