The Journal of the Built Environment of the Global South (JBEGS) welcomes original research articles for peer-reviewed publication. Submitted manuscripts should present innovative, critical, and contextually grounded contributions related to architecture, urbanism, heritage, and spatial practices within Global South contexts.
Articles should be 4,500–6,000 words in length. In exceptional cases, manuscripts of up to 7,000 words may be considered.
All submissions must be prepared in Times New Roman, 12-point font, with standard margins and double spacing.
Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. PDF files will not be accepted.
To ensure blind peer review:
The title page must include the manuscript title, author name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and contact details.
The main manuscript file must not contain any identifying information.
One corresponding author should be clearly indicated on the title page.
Each submission must include an abstract of up to 100 words, clearly outlining the research scope, methodology, and contribution.
Receipt of submissions will be formally acknowledged.
Authors will be informed of the review timeline, editorial decisions, and any required revisions following peer review.
Final publication scheduling will be communicated after acceptance.
All images, drawings, and figures must be properly captioned and fully referenced.
Authors are responsible for obtaining copyright permissions prior to submission.
As JBEGS also produces a print edition, contributors are advised to include only essential illustrations necessary to support the argument.
Images should be supplied in high resolution and positioned clearly within the manuscript file.
JBEGS follows the Harvard referencing system.
In-text citations should include the author’s surname and publication year (e.g., Thompson, 2001).
All references must be listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript.
